Many tools are used in the making of a watch. Bench machines, polishing kits and spindle adapters are some of the tools that help in watch making and watch care. Under bench machines, Hilka Bench Grinder cum polisher is a great way to give a polish to watches. They have tough grinding wheels and robust metal housing for maximum durability. It has a powerful induction motor for maximum performance and long life. It includes tool rests, eye shields and wheel guards.
Polishing kits are used in the watch and jewellery polishing process. A general purpose metal polishing kit which polishes all metals like aluminium alloys, brass, steel and copper to a mirror finish. There are sisal polishing mops which are used in first stage polishing to mop away grinding marks from earlier operations. Colour stitch polishing mops can be used with polishing compounds on soft metals like brass or copper.
Quality polishing mops are finishing mops that are 100% cotton discs and they work on all metals. Some polishing compounds are used for first cut polishing and flattening like the brown polishing compound. The blue polishing compound is good for final finishing on metals that are non-ferrous. Vienna Lime is used to remove residues left over from polishing. There are polishing kits that are specific for non ferrous metals and for steel. A wooden ring holder polishing cone is used for holding rings when polishing – a simple but effective innovation for polishing rings easily.
Spindle adapters are used for converting a bench grinder into a polishing machine. A pair of adapters can be slid onto the bench grinder shaft and then held in place by grub screws. There is also a single adapter that is of high quality which slides onto the bench grinder shaft and which is secured with a grub screw.
