Which Oil Would You Prefer In Your Watch?

March 23rd, 2009 · No Comments

Lubricants are an integral part of any machinery. They allow the appliance to run well and for a longer period of time. They also protect against damage. But which lubricant would you want inside your watch?

In the entire watchmaker world, choosing the best oil for the perfect time piece making it work forever is just one dream that might never come true. This is simply because timepieces are mechanical appliances and like any other appliances they generate heat and friction. This heat and friction wears away those intricate inner workings and lubricant and Moebiusultimately the watch fails. Watchmakers are constantly in the search of the ideal lubricant to disperse heat and lubricate the innards of watches making them work forever. It’s the Holy Grail of watchmakers all over the world.

Several companies in the watch making world are racing to create the perfect lubricant and Moebius is just one company who has partially managed to do just that. Each country produces its own oils which are preferred but Moebius has several variants in its repertoire that make it one of the world best lubricant oil manufacturers. But the lighter the oils, the more you have to pay for them. Moebius is no exception. The oils and grease are well suited for use in wrist watches and wall clocks. The synthetic light oils are also anti-corrosive as it prevents the watch and its internal workings from corroding over time. Watchmakers who find the cost of the lubricant oils substitute the mineral oils with low quality natural oils. These natural oils, however, clog up the interiors of high quality time pieces. Antique watches thus require regular cleaning at least once in six months due to the gummy residue created by natural oils.

There are several other companies in the market who also sell high quality watch oils like Swiss Novostar. But do try Moebius before you try anything else as it works out better for your expensive time pieces.
